Tom met fangirls in China. What a happy moment as you can see from the photo. What if I tell you some of the girls on the photo are not even Tom’s fans?
Hundreds of fans were waiting at Beijing Capital International Airport when they heard that Tom would arrived there. Disney said nothing about the events like fan meeting,so fans had to try their best to guess where they could meet Tom as most of them had no chance to go abroad. The period Tom was in China was their only chance.
Few of them got luck to meet Tom as the rest didn’t. Everything seemed going well, fans talked about what Tom did in China and the Thor film.Until Marvel posted several photos.
People suddenly found that there was a fan meeting with Tom.
Yet NOBODY knew the meeting have ever happened.
At this moment, one of fans organisations admitted that they were the person who in the photo, who had meet Tom.The
organisation is an unofficial on-line fans club in Baidu Tieba(a kind of chartroom in China).
They claimed that Disney asked they to call up 50 Tom’s fans to attend the meeting before he arrived China. Who would be the lucky 50? They caught their chance. They didn’t make it public as they knew there were so many fans in China loved Tom. They put their name and their friends’ name on the list. Only several fans don’t belong to their organisation nor their friends got invitation to attend the meeting and they were all told to keep it secret or else they would be kicked out of the list.
Did Disney or Marvel ask they to keep it secret? We don’t know. They said nothing about the meeting until now. The organisation claimed that Disney asked each of them to sign on a confidentiality agreement which asks they keep themselves away from other events when Tom was in China and they must tell nothing about the fan meeting to any person they know, including their family and their friends, actually anyone who are not on the list.
Nevertheless, later, several person who went to the fan meeting said that they knew nothing about the confidentiality agreement. They were told to keep it secret by the leader of the organisation.
Look back the day Tom arrived, hundreds of fans were waiting at Terminal 2 because they heard Tom’s flight will arrive there. Some of them didn’t live in Beijing, and they came from other parts of China. Some of them had friends who were in the lucky 50,who knew Tom would arrived at Terminal 3.
However, none of the lucky 50 has ever told their friends stop waiting at the wrong Terminal, instead they pretended they couldn’t go to the airport or even go to Beijing because of college or working. Even when they knew their friends were crying at airport after the whole night waiting and got nothing.
Now, fangirls angry about what they did, angry about that some of the lucky 50 are not even Tom’s fans. They attended the fan meeting only because who they are and the privilege their friends have.
Now I am wondering if Disney and Marvel know about what happened,if they are the ones who asked the lucky 50 to keep the whole thing secret,if they care about the feeling of fans.

Honestly, this is one of the most degenerating thing I have ever heard in any fandom. I can understand that Marvel/Disney wanted to keep the fans gathering a small event because of the budget/time limit/regulation complexity, and I even understand why they contacted the Tieba to help organize the fans because it is supposed to be a sort of “fan club”. However, these people turned the event into their own party without any consideration of Marvel/Disney’s intention, the negative effect on the Chinese box office for Thor 2 (people are saying they’re too disappointed to go to the movie), or even the feelings of their friends. Some of them lied to their friends that they couldn’t make it to Beijing and their friends actually tried to console them with kind words and encouragement even after they waited ten hours at the Terminal and did’t see shit…until they found their so-called friends smiling in a picture with Tom beside them. What a devastating moment! And these people gave Tom a scroll with “Mentor of Life” in Chinese written on it. Are you saying you learnt to deceive your friends from Tom, the sweetest, most amazing man I’ve ever known?! How dare you?!

Jesus Christ. LEARN THE FACTS. This is nothing more than a rant from a bitter fan who went to the WRONG FUCKING GATE.

Can you lucky 50 stop rebloging my post with the same comment? It looks like one person using multiple tumblr accounts.

OH PLEASE! Like I actually care WHO are lucky enough to meet Tom when I got doctor’s order to stay in bed for days, and that is how I started following this drama: nothing to do and too much time on hand.
So…right, I was NOT at the wrong gate, sorry to disappoint, and hey, I’m all for the facts, so I wasn’t so riled up until two things were exposed:
1. Tieba claimed that they had organized fans to make a fan video, and apparently Marvel was so impressed by that video and invited all those working on it to go to this gathering, which, by the way, was fair enough. Now some cosers participating in that video came forth and told us that out of the eleven people working on that fabulous video, at least five of them didn’t know a thing about this event, and yet Tieba claimed that SEVENTEEN people from the “video group” were present. Now are you trying to mock the Chinese with elementary mathmatics?
2. People were being lied to by their so-called friends. I’m not just talking about this on-line relationship basing on shared interests or whatever, I’m talking about tangible relationship like that between roommates and friends. I can understand lying by omision because of Marvel/Disney’s requirement, but I don’t understand actively LYING to your friend waiting outside the hotel trying so desperately to get a glimpse of the actor you both love when you were waiting inside to attend an exclusive gathering. Note: that friend still thought you were miserable back at home at the moment. Gosh! What kind of person does that? If anybody should “get a life”, I would say it’s the one who puts an actor before a friend.
Guess what? I’m allowed to be up and about today. Yeh!!! So that is all I’m ever gonna say about this whole drama.

I don’t understand why anyone, especially those who claim to be Chinese, can think what Martin Freeman says in that interview is OK.

As Chinese myself, I just want to say: No, it’s not OK.

Racist/Sexist or not, saying things like that at least reveals that he is a horrible person.

And I actually waited years for that movie! He just have to ruin it for me!

Ugh! So frustrated right now.
